What is a dental implant?

A dental implant is the only optimal method for replacing one or more missing teeth. It is a medical device, similar to a screw, which is fixed into the jawbone and thus becomes the artificial root upon which the new tooth is built. It is the ideal solution for replacing a single missing tooth or even a series of missing teeth in both the upper and lower jaws.

You should also know that it adheres to the highest quality standards, being crafted from materials of the highest purity currently available. It is sufficiently resistant for both the molar and front areas. You will be able to smile again without reservation thanks to an innovative treatment, which so many patients around the world already benefit from.

A dental implant can change your life, not just your smile!

In short, about dental implants

  • It is a system that is fixed into the jawbone and represents the artificial root on which an artificial tooth is built.;
  • A dental implant represents the optimal solution for traditional two-stage or modern immediate loading implant-prosthetic treatment – the One Day Implant concept.;
  • Provide solutions for replacing any missing tooth on both the upper and lower jaw, being sufficiently durable for the molar area, but at the same time offering very good aesthetic results for the front area.;
  • Presenting a design that adheres to the highest quality standards, crafted from a grade 4 titanium alloy with superior purity. It features a spiral designed to be gentle on the bone substrate, making the surgical intervention minimally invasive.
For each dental implant treatment there is a period of osseointegration (implant integration), which lasts between 3-6 months, depending on the healing time and bone density specific to each patient.
A dental implant can change your life, not just your smile!
The structure of a dental implant between two natural teeth

Dental implants are necessary when a tooth is missing and the patient needs a replacement.

Beginning from the age of 18, anyone can benefit from dental implant treatment, including those suffering from diabetes or periodontitis. Even patients who are completely edentulous (having no natural teeth remaining) can benefit from this innovative treatment, using The Fast & Fixed dental implant system.

Modern technologies

At Dental Elite, we are fully committed to ensuring that our patients always receive the best possible treatment. To achieve this, we use state-of-the-art technology that ensures the success of the treatment and provides the highest level of comfort during the procedure.

Thus, even people with a high degree of anxiety have a pleasant experience in our clinics.

Integrated 2D/3D Radiology and CBCT

With the help of this, a digital fingerprint is taken, which is now preferred over a dental impression because it offers increased patient comfort and improves treatment accuracy.

Intraoral scanner

Patients undergo all radiological investigations at the clinic, and in cases of emergency treatment, rapid intervention is possible, knowing the exact source of the pain.

Cerec CAD-CAM

CEREC CAD-CAM technology enables the creation of dental crowns and other prosthetic work in record time, directly in the dental practice.

The role of implants

Dental implants play an essential role, both functionally and aesthetically:
  • replace one or more missing teeth, restoring chewing function;
  • maintain bone structure, preventing resorption of the jawbone
  • improving pronunciation and speaking comfort;
  • I support general oral health, as it does not affect the adjacent teeth.

Advantages of dental implants

  • It is a good variant of treatment which restores the function of the lost tooth.;
  • It does not affect the health of the adjacent teeth
  • Restore the aesthetics and naturalness of the smile;
  • Helps regain chewing function
  • They have a long life span
  • Normal bite
  • Lifespan of 10-15 years

Stages of dental implant treatment

The stages of dental implant treatment, from the missing tooth to the inserted implant and dental crown

The procedure is simple: the screw is inserted into the alveolar bone under local anaesthetic, a prosthetic abutment is attached to it, and a temporary prosthetic restoration (dental crown).

Here are the treatment stages:

1
Extraction of a tooth that can no longer be saved
2
Implant placement (which can be done on the same day as extraction, if the root is healthy and does not require additional procedures – e.g. sinus lift)
3
Fitting the temporary prosthetic abutment and the temporary prosthetic restoration
4
Osseointegration (3-6 months)
5
Fixing the definitive prosthetic work

Types of dental implants used at Dental Elite

We only use quality implants, manufactured by top international brands, recognised for their reliability and biocompatibility. Implants are chosen based on the particularities of each case, to ensure optimal osseointegration and a natural aesthetic result.

Bredent SKY Fast&Fixed

The Fast & Fixed implant system has revolutionised the field of dentistry and restored confidence to fully edentulous (those who have lost all their natural teeth) individuals.

This involves the insertion of 4 or 6 dental implants, onto which a permanent dental restoration is fixed. Thus, the Fast & Fixed system is the superior alternative to a dental prosthesis, which required careful maintenance and represented real discomfort for the patient.

Zimmer Biomet

The Zimmer implant is a premium “bone level” implant that offers flexibility in numerous clinical situations, both surgically (one or two surgical stages; post-extraction insertion etc.) and prosthetically (fixed cemented or screwed restorations, overdentures).

Straumann

The Straumann dental implant has a success rate of 98–100%, is manufactured in Switzerland and is recommended for people with diabetes, amongst others.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions about Dental Implants

What is the best dental implant?

The best dental implant is the one that suits your needs and anatomy. At Dental Elite, we use premium brands such as Straumann, Zimmer Biomet and Bredent SKY Fast & Fixed, all of which have success rates of over 98%.

Symptoms may include inflammation, persistent pain, bleeding, or mobility of the implant. In such cases, immediate dental assessment and treatment are necessary.

The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic, so you will not feel any pain during the intervention. After the operation, slight discomfort may occur, which can be managed with anti-inflammatory medication recommended by your doctor.

If the implant becomes loose, it may be due to a lack of osseointegration. It is important to go to the doctor immediately. The implant may be stabilised or replaced, depending on the situation.

The implant can become visible at gum level due to gum recession or incorrect positioning. It is recommended to choose only clinics and dentists with extensive experience in implantology to avoid discomfort.

Required blood tests:

  • Coagulation: APTT, fibrinogen
  • Haematology: haematocrit, haemoglobin, full blood count, ESR
  • Biochemistry: blood glucose, serum iron, triglycerides, serum cholesterol, total serum calcium, LDL, HDL, vitamin D
  • Immunology: HBsAg quantitative, anti-HCV antibodies, anti-HIV (1-2) antibodies

Radiological investigations (CBCT, panoramic X-ray) are added to the tree. All of this allows the doctor to establish the optimal treatment plan.

Yes. Depending on your treatment plan, you can choose to pay for the dental implant in up to 60 fixed rate, quickly and easily, right there in the clinic.

The insertion of an implant takes 30-60 minutes on average. The complete process, including osseointegration and the application of the final crown, generally concludes in 3-6 months, depending on the case.

There are 3 types of risks: pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative. Pre-operative and intra-operative risks can be easily managed by the surgeon, while post-operative ones need to be managed by the patient at home. With a trained, multidisciplinary team, we can manage all these risks for the benefit of patients.

An implant should be guaranteed for 10-15 years, so beware of doctors who say the implants they fit will last forever!

At present, the success rate in implantology is 90–95%. This is a fantastic improvement compared to 10–20 years ago, when the success rate was much lower and implantology was the last resort in dentistry, used only in difficult cases when all other options had failed.

We have now reached the point where implantology is the first-choice treatment option, and we look forward to the day when the success rate in implantology will be 100%.

Treatment with dental implants can be carried out from the age of 18, when bone development is complete.

Rigorous hygiene is essential: brush twice a day, use dental floss and a water flosser, plus regular dental check-ups, at least twice a year.

Yes, if the conditions are kept under control. The doctor will assess the clinical situation and adapt the treatment plan according to the general state of health.

Bone augmentation is a surgical procedure where bone material is added to an area where bone density has been lost, in order to provide a solid foundation for a dental implant.

Yes. Modern dental implants are made from biocompatible titanium, a non-magnetic material that does not interfere with MRI scanners.

The choice is made together with the implantologist, depending on bone density, the area where the tooth is missing, and budget. Premium implants, such as Straumann or Zimmer, offer the greatest durability and stability.
