What is Full mouth restoration and who is it for?

The full mouth restoration (All-on-4, All-on-6 and All-on-8) is aimed at patients who have lost several teeth or even suffer from total edentulism (no teeth left) and who want to get rid of their removable dentures. The procedure is one of complete dental restoration. The implants are placed, along with the prosthetic abutments (elements that connect the freshly placed implant to the future restoration). The temporary prosthesis is fitted, thus providing you with a fast, functional, and aesthetic rehabilitation.

The definitive prosthetic work

Come for your first visit for a complete consultation, investigations, and an assessment of your oral health. At this stage, we determine if the All-on-X (All-on-4, All-on-6, All-on-8) treatment is the right solution for you.

We draw up the personalised treatment plan, discuss each stage, set the date for the procedure and all the necessary details so that the treatment proceeds under the best possible conditions.

On the day of the procedure, we will insert the dental implants and fix the temporary restoration, so you will leave the clinic with a new, functional smile. You will be able to speak, drink, eat, and, of course, smile with confidence from the same day. We use premium implant systems such as Straumann, Neodent, Bredent SKY Fast&Fixed, and Zimmer, choosing the appropriate solution based on the specific details of each clinical case.

Even though these may seem like everyday matters to many people, we know that for you they can represent significant changes. The Dental Elite team’s expertise is behind your treatment.
Around 4–5 months after the procedure, once the dental implants have had time to osseointegrate, you will return to the clinic to have your final prosthetic restoration fitted. At this stage, you will see the final result of your treatment: a stable, comfortable and long-lasting smile, designed to restore your confidence for the long term.

Advantages of full mouth restoration

Full mouth restoration solution has numerous benefits:

Aesthetics

You can speak and smile without worry, with a beautiful, complete, natural-looking set of teeth.

Functionality

You can eat normally, without restraint.

Healthy organism

During chewing, the absence of teeth can lead to incomplete digestion of the food bolus. Additionally, if you cannot chew, you may deprive your body of certain nutrients. With a full set of teeth, the digestive system will function normally and you can eat anything.

Effective treatment

Intervention that restores teeth in a short time.

Generally, the main advantage of full mouth restoration is the more favourable price compared to classic dental implants. This is because bone augmentation is usually not required. The implants are fixed at angles that maximise bone support, which often eliminates the need for bone grafting.

Stages of full mouth restoration (All-on-4, All-on-6, All-on-8)

Full mouth restoration is a procedure that restores the smile and functionality of the teeth

1

In a single procedure, between 4 and 6 dental implants are inserted, usually 6 in the upper jaw and 4 in the lower jaw, followed by impressions of them. In the same procedure, the prosthetic abutments are also fitted.

2

In the dental laboratory, the temporary restoration is being made, which the patient will wear for 6 months.

3

24 hours after the dental implant procedure, the temporary fixed prosthesis is fitted.

4

A new impression is then taken for the final prosthesis, which will be made from high-quality and aesthetically pleasing materials, such as ceramic and zirconia, and which will be fitted 6 months after the surgery, when osseointegration is complete.

FAQ - We answer the most common questions about All-on-4, All-on-6, All-on-8:

What you need to know before choosing full mouth restoration on implants?

First of all, we need to realise that it doesn’t hurt. I know there is a fear surrounding the operation. It’s not a simple matter for patients. Generally speaking, it’s something you only have to go through once in a lifetime. It doesn’t hurt. It’s a safe and predictable procedure, with a success rate of 98%. If we were to compare it with other medical specialities – say, cardiology or interventional surgery – the realistic chances of success are somewhere around 60–70%. In our field, thanks to current technologies, the success rate is increasing significantly.

A dental CT scan or tomography is a three-dimensional investigation of the skull, through which we doctors can see more aspects. We can see the quality of the bone, we can see which arteries pass through the maxilla or mandible, and we can see essential anatomical areas. The upper part, the maxillary sinuses and the subnasal area, and in the lower part, the mandible, I am referring to the inferior alveolar nerve.

The lifespan of implants is generally very long. It should last us our whole lives. We receive a lifetime warranty on the material used from the manufacturer. I'm referring to dental implants. This doesn't mean they will last a lifetime. Unfortunately, we have no way of knowing. Some patients might develop a chronic illness during their lifetime, such as diabetes, cancer, or sustain accidents and trauma.

Of course. I think the best example for this question is my own father, who also has diabetes, is a smoker, has periodontal disease, and was successfully operated on by me using the Fast&Fixed procedure. I placed 6 implants in his maxilla and 6 in his mandible, and today he enjoys a new set of teeth and is very happy. Thus, even those with periodontitis, diabetes, and other chronic illnesses can benefit from such treatments.

The provisional prosthesis, or more accurately, the provisional fixed prosthetic work, aims to acclimatise the patient to the new situation. The gum area needs to heal, so that when the definitive restoration arrives, everything is accommodated and adjusted to the new situation.

It is very difficult to give a price without an initial consultation and a CT scan, because the truth is that every patient is unique and their needs are special. For some patients, bone augmentation is necessary. We need to know how much bone augmentation is required. For other patients, we find that more dental implants need to be inserted. That is why it is very difficult to give a cost based on just an X-ray or a phone call.

It is essential to have a temporary prosthesis on freshly placed implants for several reasons. One is that the implants are healing, and we need a prosthesis that is much lighter and perhaps with fewer teeth than a definitive one. Secondly, from the perspective of the gum, which is also healing. It heals in 3-4-5 months. Therefore, if we were to make a definitive prosthesis from the start, we would notice that after a few months, that definitive prosthesis no longer corresponds to the gum tissue underneath. This is why the temporary prosthesis is like a test drive. It has a role in remodelling the gum tissue and helping the implants integrate into the bone as quickly as possible.

We cannot use the long-term provisional prosthesis for several reasons:

  1. The material is of a poorer, lower-cost, and lower-quality type. It will also become grimy, so to speak, with bacteria in the long term.
  2. Her fragility is much greater, she could break at any moment
  3. It can endanger freshly inserted implants, precisely for the first two reasons: it becomes heavily contaminated with bacteria and does not protect the gum area. Plus, it can break and cause discomfort to patients in the medium and long term.

The lifetime warranty on implants refers to the fact that the implant will not break, bend, or undergo physical changes in the bone.

Of course! That is precisely the aim. After the Fast&Fixed procedure, our goal is to integrate the patient as quickly as possible, both in terms of mastication, so they can eat, and in terms of functionality, and in terms of aesthetics, but especially in terms of psychology. This is because the patient wants to go to work, wants to meet people, wants to talk with their family. And without appropriate teeth, none of these things can happen.

Certainly. There is the possibility of instalment payments. Here at Dental Elite, we offer multiple financial solutions and packages tailored to any type of treatment plan. Here is a link to Installment payments – Dental Elite

In certain clinical situations, following a comprehensive medical evaluation, provisional fixed restorations can be applied to implants within a 24-hour period. The indication for this treatment is determined on an individual basis, depending on the patient's oral and general health status, bone quality, and other relevant clinical factors. Treatment outcomes and duration can vary from one patient to another.

Removable dentures are quite an old, classic technique. They have played their role over the years. Their purpose is to replace teeth that have been lost. However, they have a major drawback in terms of comfort. A fixed restoration or a fixed denture in general is anchored to implants or teeth. Its advantage is that it doesn't fall out of your mouth. So, from a comfort perspective, it is very good.
